A few days following the launch of online vintage shop Moon Daisy I was contacted by D'ana Nunez, creative director and founder of online magazine Zuri Mayhem, to be featured in the February issue of ZM. I was prompted to answer about 5 questions, which gave me weird anxiety while answering because everything with Moon Daisy was all so new to me at the moment! So, today is February first. The new issue of ZM has launched, and Moon Daisy is featured on pg 8! (Ironically my favorite number!) Everyone check the issue out and become an avid reader! The mag is great!
Here is the link to the mag, and full Moon Daisy interview below :)
If you're going to restock soon?
- Moon Daisy will be restocked sometime THIS week- aiming for Tuesday. Initially, Moon Daisy was set to get new stock in every 2 weeks, but the launch had such a great response that new listings will be more frequent.
Your most popular item?
- The most popular item (referring to number of views) is/was the Vintage Liz Claiborne blazer that sold out within the first couple hours of the launch. It was maroon, fully lined, in great condition, and had one pocket on the left chest... I would have bought it too!
Price points?
- There aren't many vintage retailers online who offer reasonable price points. I just felt there was a need for AWESOME vintage at AWESOME prices. Girls always ask me all the time about my personal vintage pieces, because they didn't know where to get vintage themselves. I wanted to make fun vintage pieces available to these girl, and at low price points. The average Moon Daisy selling price for a garment is $15/$18. Moon Daisy has pieces as low as $13, ranging as high as $30.
Reason behind the name?
- As far as the name, there's actually no deep creative story behind it. This shop has been a goal of mine for forever and I originally had a name in mind for over a year. Well, that name ended up feeling too serious and Moon Daisy came to me one night when I was falling asleep. Moon Daisy is an example of my spirit, so I wanted something that conveyed freedom, fun, and a colorful soul.
Why would you say your store is different?
- With Moon Daisy I want to inspire ladies to have more fun with their wardrobe, because vintage can come off a bit intimidating if you're not used to wearing pieces from past decades. Even with the styling and editing of Moon Daisy I wanted to keep everything light, add a bit of humor, and keep it feeling relatable. I believe, often times, that people feel threatened by fashion so they stick to following trends instead of developing their own styles. Moon Daisy encourages fashion risks, and new ideas.
Who is the founder?
- I am the founder. My name is Ashley Lavon, I go by Consuela when I'm really in my zone. I'm from the midwest. I go to fashion school full time, I work at a hardware store part-time. (I'm making a weird face because I have NO idea what to say about myself.)
And where the store plans to be in 5 months?
- I honestly have no solid prediction of where Moon Daisy will be in the next 5 months. All I know is that it'll be in a position I never expected, said with a positive tone. Moon Daisy is on its 3rd day of existence and opportunities have blossomed from everywhere. Any 5 month prediction will be a waste because all of my expectations have already been surpassed. Some upcoming events for Moon Daisy are a local spring fashion show, a few photo shoots, a spring launch event, and of course being featured on the amazing Zuri Mayhem! In the meantime, Moon Daisy is just taking it all in a day at a time and letting it flow. Stay tuned.
